Q: I am a BT landline customer and my boyfriend has gone to Zambia for 3 months. He has an O2 UK mobile phone, his normal UK number works to dial, but on his screen it says he is on a Zambian network (for signal and networcking purposes) it is not a Zambian handset or SIM card. If I wanted to use your cheap rates phone numbers, would I use the "UK landline > zambia, mobile" number? I used it last night to call him and it dialled, the 10p/min rate. But does that mean it would charge me 10p, or could it charge differently because it's an english mobile number? Also, would that charge him anything for receiving the call? Another question is that I am an 02 UK mobile customer too, and I am on a contract tarrif that gives me 600 free minutes a month to any UK landline or mobile within the UK, but to call him it is 89p a minute because he's out the country. I pay a set amount every month on my contract, but if I wanted to use one of your cheap rates mobile top-up services, how would it affect my mobile phone bill? It says inclusive minutes needed, but if I purchased, say, a £3 top-up to call him mobile to mobile, would it affect my contract or would it simply add £3 onto my phone bill? I was told by O2 customer services to ask you this question because they don't have that information about the top-up cards.cheap calls to Zambia
A: One thing can be sure is that you will only be charged at 10p/min for using our 0871 570 2652 access number from your BT landline, regardless of your destinations. For your boyfriend, his cost will be as same as the charge of receiving a local call from a Zambian number, which is decided by his Zambian network provider.
If you made the top up, you will receive a £3 credit, and we will charge you the £3 on your bill. The inclusive minutes are needed when your are dialing the 0207 access number. I personally would not suggest you to use the top up service from your mobile, as the rate is higher than 10p from landline, and you might be charged at an extra for calling a roaming number.
